We’re about to embark on the tiny living lifestyle with the purchase of our 2005 Forest River 5th wheel. We debated going smaller or trying to build a yurt or a more “traditional” tiny house on a trailer. In the end, the cost and layout of this 5th wheel was a no-brainer for us.
Plus, it’s already got a solar system installed!
Now to continue paring down books (so many books!), figuring out how to reduce the paperwork from both our businesses, and deciding where to put the washer and dryer (probably outside in the storage shed after some insulation happens).
This will be a great adventure because we have two large dogs and a cat. I see us cutting a hole in the camper somewhere to install a dog/cat door. We’ll fence in the yard around the camper, too, since we’re moving onto a working farm. There’s a Great Pyrenees named Thor whose job it is to protect the sheep from predators (like two large dogs). And we’ll see how the cat does with the chickens and ducks since there’s no way to fence a cat in nor anywhere to keep him contained in the camper because of the dog door!
Once we get moved in, we’ll do a video tour of the land and inside the camper so you can see how we’re set up.
Because the camper is less than 300 sq. ft., we’ll be building an outdoor deck for three-season living. We also really like to entertain. Having a number of friends over to check out our tiny living lifestyle without all of us having to smoosh into the camper will be a big plus.
Stay tuned as we prepare for the big move!
