Ah, yes, downsizing. Again.
I thought we already downsized a lot. I sold my 1,500 sq. ft. house in Charlotte. We combined our households into Yukon’s 1020 sq. ft. house. Then we moved to the mountains (yay!) and downsized a bit more (to 900 sq. ft.).
Now, we’re getting ready to downsize (a lot) into a 30 ft. 5th wheel (a tiny house, indeed). It’ll be cozy with two Labrador retrievers and a large cat.
We’re ready, though.
Some things have been easy in this downsizing process – getting rid of clothes and shoes, for instance. Don’t love it? Be gone! Fits weird? It’s outta here!
Kitchen stuff has been easy, too. The things covered with dust? We clearly don’t use them.
Harder, though, have been the books. My husband and I both have a collection we’ve been trying to purge. We’re down by half, but still. Lots of books.
We’ll get there. With two and half months before we make the official move, we’ve got time to keep picking away at our belongings.
It’s exciting, too, because we’ll be parking the 5th wheel on a working farm. I’m looking forward to daily gardening and helping out with the animals as needed.
After that? Our two-year plan is to be completely debt free (with a bit of savings) and hit the road. We’ll make a living telling stories and sharing photos. At least, that’s our plan. Stay tuned – we’ll keep you in the loop!
